She brings significant experience in constitutional law through her clerkship at the Constitutional Court of South Africa, where she has served under Justice Kollapen, Justice Tshiqi and Acting Justice Chaskalson.
Catherine obtained her LLB at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and also holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics
Catherine describes what she is hoping to achieve through the fellowship:
I am humbled and grateful to be a Pius Langa Memorial Fellow and have the opportunity to pursue an LLM at University College London. The late Chief Justice Langa's contributions, particularly on transformative constitutionalism, remain deeply relevant as we continue to address issues of access to equal justice, legal education, legal culture, and reconciliation. I hope my studies at UCL, specialising in Public Law, will build a robust foundation for my work in public interest law, focusing on equitable redistribution and promoting secure, enforceable rights. I am delighted to start the programme and return a better lawyer.
